Paasikivi worked as principal soloist at Finnish National Opera between 1998-2013. Roles have included Carmen, Eboli in Don Carlos, Amneris in Aida and Fricka in Das Rheingold and Die Walküre. Elsewhere she made her début at the Châtelet in the role of The Pilgrim in Saariaho’s L’amour de loin, sang the role of Brangäne under the baton of Kazushi Ono in La Monnaie’s production of Tristan und Isolde, made her house and role débuts at Opéra de Lyon as The Composer (Ariadne auf Naxos) and sang the role of Fricka in the Aix-en-Provence and Salzburg Easter festivals Ring-cycle with Sir Simon Rattle and the Berlin Philharmonic.
Highlights in season 2015-16 include performances of Schönberg’s Gurre-lieder with Swedish Radio-orchestra and Esa-Pekka Salonen, Mahler’s 2. Symphony with NHK and Paavo Järvi and Sibelius Kullervo-symphony with Minnesota orchestra and Osmo Vänskä. In May 2016 Paasikivi will sing the role of Brangäne in Wagner’s Tristan and Isolde at the Finnish National Opera.
Lilli Paasikivi is the artistic director of the Finnish National Opera.
She is also the artistic director of Pyhäniemi Manor concerts series.
